Israeli Attacks Kill at Least 29 Across Gaza Today, Most in Gaza City

April 17, 2025
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has deepened further today as Israeli attacks killed at least 29 Palestinians across the enclave, according to health officials. The majority of the deaths were reported in Gaza City, where some of the heaviest bombardments have been concentrated.

Hospitals, already overwhelmed and running low on supplies, are struggling to cope with the influx of wounded civilians. Emergency workers and volunteers have been seen digging through rubble with their bare hands, searching for survivors and retrieving bodies.

Witnesses describe scenes of chaos and devastation. Residential neighborhoods, often filled with families who have nowhere else to go, have become prime targets, leading to high civilian casualties.
“I was just helping my mother prepare breakfast when the blast shook the entire street,” said Amal, a 27-year-old resident of Gaza City. “We ran out, and there was smoke and dust everywhere. So many people screaming.”

The Israeli military has stated that its operations are targeting Hamas infrastructure and militants, yet the disproportionate number of civilian deaths continues to raise serious concerns internationally.
UN officials and humanitarian organizations have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing the catastrophic toll on Gaza’s civilian population, particularly children and women.

As the situation escalates, international appeals for restraint and negotiations grow louder. However, hopes for a pause in the violence seem dim amid ongoing tensions.

Global Reactions
World leaders, including those from the European Union, the United Nations, and several Middle Eastern countries, have issued fresh condemnations and calls for de-escalation. Protesters across cities like London, Paris, Amman, and Istanbul have taken to the streets today, voicing solidarity with the Palestinian people and demanding an end to the bloodshed.

A Humanitarian Catastrophe
Gaza’s humanitarian needs are at breaking point. With electricity supplies critically low, clean water scarce, and food aid facing serious disruptions, the living conditions for ordinary civilians are deteriorating rapidly.
Aid groups warn that without a ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access, the already dire situation could spiral into an outright catastrophe.

What’s Next?

As the violence rages on, the people of Gaza face another night of fear and uncertainty.
International mediators are reportedly working behind the scenes to push for urgent ceasefire talks, but without clear signs of progress, the death toll may continue to rise.
